Copyhackers' 10x Emails Review: Is Joanna Wiebe's Email Course Worth It?

July 22, 2026 in Business · 4 min read

10x Emails is probably the most-recommended email copywriting course on the internet, and its teacher has credentials most course creators can't touch: Joanna Wiebe coined the term "conversion copywriting," has written for Shopify, MetaLab, Wistia, Tesco, and BT, and has taught copy to teams at Google and Amazon. But a famous teacher doesn't automatically mean the course is the right buy for you. Here's an honest look.

What you actually get

The course is four modules of short HD videos — most under five minutes, all transcribed — moving from planning (plotting sequences, SaaS onboarding, the 5 Cs of welcome emails) through writing (subject lines, body copy, storytelling, voice) to advanced techniques (the CPTS technique, the Superman Principle, ethical urgency) and optimization (testing, open-rate diagnosis). Around the videos sit the real workhorses: dozens of over-the-shoulder tutorials, more than 12 hours of recorded workshops on sales and SaaS emails, and the "themeplates" — annotated email templates covering the funnel from pre-launch to downsells. Finish the module quizzes above 85% and you get a completion badge. Our full summary walks through the content module by module.

What's genuinely good

Three things stand out. First, it teaches email as a system, not a bag of tricks. The plot-before-you-write approach — mapping the belief journey before drafting a single subject line — is the thing that separates people who "do email marketing" from people whose sequences convert, and very few courses teach it properly.

Second, the templates have a real track record. Copywriter Marian Schembari has publicly credited the course's sequence templates with a Teachable launch that generated around $500,000, and with tripling what she charges per email. Testimonials are always selected, but the pattern across hundreds of students — more than 600 have taken it — is consistent: the themeplates cut hours off client work.

Third, the ethics are load-bearing, not decorative. The "keep the skeeze out" rule and the honest treatment of urgency and scarcity make this a course you can apply to a real brand without torching your list's trust. That matters more in email than anywhere else.

The honest caveats

Every module, framework, and template reference from Copyhackers' flagship email course, condensed into one actionable read. 10x Emails — Full Summary.

The pricing is genuinely confusing. The standalone sales page has listed 10x Emails at $997 (or twelve payments of $97), while Copyhackers' own Copy School store has offered it at $297 as a permanent-looking "70% off." It's also bundled inside the Copy School membership, which itself is discounted aggressively around Black Friday. The practical advice: never pay the anchor price, and check both pages before buying.

The course is also aging. It was originally built in the mid-2010s (with launch specialist Ry Schwartz, who is no longer featured on the current sales page), and while conversion principles don't expire, some references and tactics predate the current email landscape — deliverability changes, AI drafting tools, and the decline of the classic internet-marketing launch. You'll translate some of it.

Finally, it's overkill for casual senders. If email is a side concern — you send a monthly newsletter and that's it — the full system is more machinery than you need, and the marketing's income-boast testimonials ("$172,759 in 20 days") deserve the usual skepticism about selected outliers.

Who it's for — and who it isn't

It earns its price for freelance copywriters who want to charge more for email projects, and for marketers or founders whose businesses genuinely run on launches, onboarding sequences, or sales emails — in those hands the templates alone can pay for the course on the first project. It's the wrong buy if you're a beginner still learning what copywriting is, if your channel is social rather than email, or if you mainly want the concepts rather than the full template library.

If you're in that last group, our summary condenses the frameworks — the plotting system, the 5 Cs, the anticipation sequence, the optimization method — for a fraction of even the discounted price.

The verdict

10x Emails is the real thing: a systematic, ethically grounded email course from arguably the most credible teacher in the field, with templates that have documented results. Its weaknesses are commercial rather than educational — confusing pricing, aging examples, and marketing that oversells the typical outcome. Buy it (at the discounted price) if email is a core revenue channel or a service you sell. Read the key lessons or grab the summary first if you're still deciding whether email deserves that place in your business.
